Capital Classic Tournament Hosted by GW and Maryland Club Baseball


The Capital Classic Tournament will be played at 2 fields at Cosca Regional Park in Clinton, MD along with Brentwood-Hamilton Field in downtown Washington, DC and Shipley Field on UMD’s capus.

Directions to Cosca Regional Park from I-495 Capital Beltway
Take Exit 7A (MD-5 Branch Ave towards Waldof) Merge onto Branch Ave.   Follow Branch Ave. for about 4 miles and take the MD-223/Woodyard Rd ramp towards Clinton/Mellwood.  Bear right on the exit ramp towards Clinton.  Make a left on Brandywine Road (firehouse on right). Make a slight right onto Thrift Road (less than a mile.) Cosca Regional Park is on the right side 11000 Thrift Road.  The field with the high fence is on the left side and the other field is on the right side when you pull into the park.
 
Directions to Cosca Regional Park from the Ramada
Allow 30 minutes. Go North on Baltimore Ave.  Merge onto Capital Beltway (I-495S/I-95 S).  Take Exit 7A (MD-5 Branch Ave towards Waldof) Merge onto Branch Ave.   Follow Branch Ave. for about 4 miles and take the MD-223/Woodyard Rd ramp towards Clinton/Mellwood.  Bear right on the exit ramp towards Clinton.  Make a left on Brandywine Road (firehouse on right). Directions to Shipley Field at University of Maryland from I-495 Capital Beltway
Get off at exit 25 (US route 1). Make left onto US Route 1 South. Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1.  Turn right into the main entrance of campus.  Stay straight past the M...follow until you can make a right.  Take that right, parking garage is on your left.  Shipley field at the bottom of the hill.

Directions to Brentwood-Hamilton Field from University of Maryland
Allow 15 minutes
1:  Start out going North on BALTIMORE AVE/US-1 toward DELAWARE ST.
2:  Merge onto CAPITAL BELTWAY/I-495 S/I-95 S.
3:  Take the BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON PARKWAY exit- exit number 22B- toward WASHINGTON.
4:  Merge onto MD-295 S.
5:  Merge onto US-50 W/NEW YORK AVE NE toward WASHINGTON.
6:  Left on 4th st. 
7:  stay straight on Penn St.
8:  Right on 6th.  Field is on your left.  park on 6th st. at own risk (foul balls)

Rules for the Tournament:
 
Championship Game: 
The teams in this game will be the best record from Group A vs. the best record from Group B.
 
Consolation Game: 
The teams in this game will be the 2nd best record from Group A vs. the 2nd best record from Group B.
 
Tie breakers:
 If a tie in record should occur the following rules will determine the winner:
1) run differential
2) Runs scored
3) Runs scored by opponents 
4) Coin toss
 
The rules for game play will resemble the old NCBA rules of the 2003-2004 season.  In other words, re-entry will be allowed. 
 
Games (with the exception of the Championship game and the Consolation game) will not be allowed to start a new inning after 2.25 hours of play. 
 
At the completion of each game, the winning team must call Matt D’Alessio from GW Club Baseball with the final outcome of the game
