Banner is used by most offices across campus. There are over 1100 users
who use the client-server version of Banner. If you count students and
faculty who use Banner's web interface, the GWeb Information System, there
are almost 25,000 GW users!
Administrative Applications
is responsible for maintaining Banner at GW. Analysts, developers, web
developers, project managers, methodology managers, and trainers from
Administrative Applications all take a part in assisting the user community.
The following Administrative Applications groups are all involved in
the administration of Banner.
Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP)
The Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) team is responsible
for the implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of the University
and Medical Center financial, HR, Payroll, and Student systems. The
primary goals of the team are to provide timely and accurate information
and to meet the ever-changing needs of the University community. The
group is responsible for both Banner and the Enterprise
Accounting System (EAS).
Software Education & Training
The staff of the Software Education & Training group is responsible for conducting most Banner
training.
Admininstrative Applications Project Office
The staff of the project office is responsible for assisting with Project Management and planning, and upholding
ISS standards for project work and change management.
Data Administration
Data Administration's role regarding Banner is to lead GW committees
that address data quality, security, and access issues. They also develop
data related standards and policies. This group has primary responsibility
for the Student
and Student Accounts Data Marts. These marts use Banner data for
easy reporting and on-demand information at the desktop.
Interactive Multimedia Applications Group
The Interactive Multimedia Applications Group (IMAG)
works closely with Banner Applications staff to develop new web-based
Banner services using the GWeb Information System, Banner's self-service
applications.
Banner Advisory Committee
The members of the Banner Advisory Committee (BAC) constitute the University's
process and data owners and act on behalf of the larger universe of
Banner users to provide general guidance and oversight to the use of
Banner at GW. BAC reports its progress to the Administrative Information
Technology Committee.
Data Integrity and Standards Committee
The Data Integrity and Standards Committee (DISCO) is concerned with
maintaining data standards and policies, so that the data in GW's administrative
databases, including Banner and EAS, are standardized and uphold the
high standards necessary for an efficient operation of the databases.
DISCO, through its Data Quality and Security subcommittee, also set
security policies, data entry standards, and provide other related services.
DISCO reports its progress to the Administrative Information Technology
Committee.
