1. How do I view the schedule for Banner training?
2. How do I register for a Banner training course?

5. I would like to put together a custom training on Banner for my office. Who do I contact?
1) How do I view a schedule of Banner courses?
- Log into the myGW Portal (http://my.gwu.edu)
- Click the Tools and Resources tab
- Under Training click Training, Web Based – SkillPort
- Once you have logged into Skillport – perform the following search
- Search for: Banner
- Category: Instructor Led Training
- Click Banner Navigation Fundamentals
- Click Sessions to view all of the sessions currently available.
2) How do I register for Banner training courses?
- Log into the myGW Portal (http://my.gwu.edu)
- Click the Tools and Resources tab
- Under Training click Training, Web Based – SkillPort
- Once you have logged into Skillport – perform the following search
- Search for: Banner
- Category: Instructor Led Training
- Click Banner Navigation Fundamentals
- Click Sessions to view all of the sessions currently available.
- Click on the link for the session you wish to enroll for.
- Remember, you must have your Banner ID before attending the session. You will be asked for your Banner ID at the door.
- Scroll to the bottom of the session page and click Enroll Me.
- You will be able to access the information for that session in your SkillPort account Home Page under Instructor Led Training. Click the link for the session you are attending for details on that session.
3) Where can I find training documentation and tutorials for Banner?
- Log into the myGW Portal (http://my.gwu.edu)
- Click the Tools and Resources tab
- Under Training, click Training, WebBased – SkillPort
- Once you have logged into Skillport – Click Catalog
- Click Custom Curricula
- Click Banner FAQs to access all Banner tutorials and documentation currently available.
4) Who do I contact for training on a specific Banner System or Module?
There are a number of resources that are available 24/7 to assist you with learning a particular Banner feature. Here are a few tips for getting the most out of your resources.
- If this is a system with which you are completely unfamiliar and no processes have already been put in place in your department, look at the SCT vendor tutorials. (link to a new window - http://www.gwu.edu/~set/Banner/Banner_training.html ) The vendor tutorials will give you an idea of the workflows the vendor used to design Banner.
- If you are somewhat familiar with the system, but would like information on a particular form or have a question about a particular feature – use the Online Help within Banner. The online help within Banner is context-sensitive.
- If you have questions about how to perform a particular process – look at the online tutorials and job aids within SkillPort.
- Log into the myGW Portal (http://my.gwu.edu)
- Click the Tools and Resources tab
- Under Training click Training, Web Based – SkillPort
- Once you have logged into Skillport – Click Catalog
- Click Custom Curricula
- Click Banner FAQs to access all Banner tutorials and documentation currently available.
