Course
Objectives:
The primary objective of these courses is to develop and maintain an understanding
of and appreciation for a wide variety of music, and apply this understanding
and appreciation to improving one's quality of life. A secondary objective
of this course is to experience the enlightening process of music in rehearsals
and performance while developing the highest possible musicianship within
the context of available time and talent.
Music:
All music folders must be present at every rehearsal. Markings should
be made in pencil only on the music. If you are absent, your music still
must be at every rehearsal in order to have your section leader mark changes
etc.
Grading:
Students are generally very dedicated in their musical activates and therefore
usually obtain an excellent grade. Grades will be determined using the
following formula:
5 Tests at 2% each + Attendance (90%) = 100%
Absences will affect a student's attendance grade adversely at the rate
of 3% points loss per absence. An absence requires that students call
the band office in advance. Failure to notify Dr. Fritz in advance of
an absence will affect a student's grade adversely at the rate of 5% points
loss per absence. Absences from a performance will result in loss of one
full letter grade. If you need to miss a rehearsal, please contact the
band office in advance ext. 49041 and be sure that any music arrives at
rehearsal.

and black shoes. Women perform in concert black, i.e. long black dress,

Note of Instructional Intent
It is the instructor's intent to provide an enjoyable learning experience
for all the students in the course. If any action or statement makes a
student feel uncomfortable in any way, please bring this to the attention
of the instructor (or through the band officers) so instructional delivery
can be addressed to accommodate the unique individual needs of the course. |
