Humberto R. Maturana received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1958. From 1969-70 he served as a visiting professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in the Biological Computer Lab. He is currently a profesor of physiology at the University of Chile, located in Santiago.
