A dynamic personality, Margaret Mead is not one who clings to the old ideas and refuses to incorporate new thinking into her methodology. While continuing to practice the very effective technique of personal interview, she recommends that young anthropologists should use modern technology to improve their results. She made reference to her own career in the overall discussion and spoke of voluminous shorthand notes taken with a running pencil that are of no value to anyone but the observer.
