Art Therapy at GWU

The Art Therapy Program at GW offers a series of lectures designed to further the education of art therapists and professionals of other disciplines. Art therapists, expressive therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors are invited to speak on a variety of topics related to the practice of art therapy. Past colloquia have focused on special populations (such as developmentally disabled children, terminally ill adults, HIV/AIDS clients, older adults, the homeless, chemically dependent, incarcerated, cross-cultural issues, psychopharmacology and behavior, international outreach, crisis management, transpersonal psychology, and supervision).

All colloquia are free and are held in the Art Therapy Department at 1925 Ballenger Avenue in Virginia at the GW Alexandria Graduate Education Center—unless noted otherwise, from 5-7 pm, in room 223. Please note the street entrance is actually 413 John Carlyle St. on the circle. Workshops and Open Art Studios require a minimal fee, please check for specific details and locations. Continuing education credits are also available for colloquia and workshops. For information, call 703-299-4148 or email artx@gwu.edu. This schedule will be posted and updated each semester; please check back for further details.

The cost is free for current students and $5 for the community. All are welcome, but reservations are required as there is limited space.
