Art Therapy at GWU

Emmy Lou Glassman, MA, ATR-BC
Lecturer

Emmy Lou Glassman, worked in the Fairfax County Public Schools system as an art therapist for more than nineteen years. During that time, she served at centers for emotionally disabled high school students, integrating her art therapy program within the public school framework. She has lectured at public and private elementary and high schools, colleges, and national conferences about the positive role that art therapy can play in the adjustment of students to the world around them. As a clinical field supervisor for The George Washington University, Ms. Glassman has provided art therapy graduate students with first-hand experiences for over eleven years. She continues to professionally supervise both new and experienced art therapists, as well as maintain a private art therapy practice serving children, adolescents, and adults using creative therapeutic interventions. She continues to enjoy creating, particularly with mixed media, and has exhibited her artwork in shows and galleries publicly.
