The Founder's Fund
When Elinor Ulman retired from active teaching and practice in 1987, her friends and colleagues established in her honor The Elinor Ulman Fund, dedicated to continuing the advancements in the field of art therapy begun by Dr. Ulman. In 1989, she asked that the name of the fund be changed in order to also honor Bernard Levy and Hanna Kwiatkowska who joined Dr. Ulman in originating the GW Art Therapy Program. It then became The Founder's Fund for Art Therapy.
The Fund's purpose is to provide:
- an annual prize to one student paper selected from among the year's submissions to The American Journal of Art Therapy.
- a scholarship to assist those students wishing to pursue a graduate degree in art therapy at The George Washington University's program.
- sponsorship of seminars and symposia for professionals and interested parties of the public on the various therapeutic uses of art therapy. These programs will be designed to educate the public on art therapy generally as well as to train practitioners in the field.
Contributions to this worthwhile fund are tax-deductible. Checks can be sent to The George Washington University, The Graduate Training Program in Art Therapy, 2129 G Street, Building L (rear), Washington, DC 20052, and made payable to The Founders Fund for Art Therapy.
Katherine J. Williams Fund to promote diversity in scholarship and in recruitment.
This fund was established on the occasion of Katherine Williams' retirement in June, 2000, to honor her many contributions to the Art Therapy Program at the George Washington University for over 20 years.
The Katherine J. Williams Fund offers a new and
exciting opportunity for giving!
The Katherine J. Williams Fund was recently given a match grant from The Prasad Foundation—Sangeeta Patel Prasad is a 1989 graduate from The George Washington Art Therapy Program and her husband, Ram, is a graduate of the GW engineering department. They have donated $2500 to the fund as a match grant meaning that any donation you make to the fund will be matched by them up to $2500. This is an exciting opportunity for you to make a difference in current and future students' lives.
The purpose of this fund is to promote diversity in scholarship and in recruitment.
Goals for funding include:
- Awarding scholarships to reduce fees for students from multicultural backgrounds;
- Funding research into the meaning and role of artwork in different cultures;
- Helping students from a wide range of backgrounds buy books or attend conferences;
- Assisting students in crucial ways to engage in volunteer activities in this and other countries.
If you would like to mark your appreciation, tax deductible donations to this worthwhile fund can be sent to the Art Therapy Program, George Washington University, 2129 G Street (Rear), Washington, DC 20052.
