Applications: On-line applications are available at http://gwired.gwu.edu/adm/apply/app_online.html for prospective undergraduates and at http://www.gwu.edu/~gradinfo/apply.htm for graduate students. Undergraduate admissions for studio art majors do not require a portfolio, but slides of work should accompany graduate applications. Undergraduate Scholarship Support: Through the Office of Admissions the Department of Fine Arts and Art History administers the Presidential Arts Scholars program, which grants generous four-year scholarships to outstanding students in the fine arts. During February, high school students seeking to be designated as Presidential Arts Scholars meet on campus for an interview and portfolio review. Details and deadlines are available at Special Programs for Freshmen. In addition, there are opportunities for scholarships administered outside the department. For more information see the GW Bulletin and the Financial Assistance page on the student network. Graduate Fellowship Support: The Department offers a number of Graduate Teaching Assistantships each year. These are competitive awards offered to outstanding students in art history, interior design and studio art. We also award the Morris Lewis Fellowship in Painting to one student a year. The application deadline is generally in early March, and application requires a slide review. For other funding opportunities for graduate students, see the Graduate Funding Opportunities page and the Financial Assistance page on the student network. |
