Professor Shertzer has over 18 years of experience in all facets of the
Interior Design and Architectural Profession with professional practice in
Arizona, Alaska, Ohio and the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. His work
experience has included Retail Interior Design for the Limited, Express and
Limited Too. Residential work includes five star energy efficient homes in Alaska, featured on Home and Garden TV. Recently, Professor Shertzer has been
focusing on Commercial Interior Design on projects ranging from 3,000 Square
feet to over 100,000 square feet. Project types include Law firms, Data
Centers, Lobbying offices, Foundations and Not-for-Profit organizations.
Professor Shertzer teaches Graphic Communication for Interior Design.

Professor Speck’s professional practice includes retail (Britches, Britches Great Outdoors, Candy Express); residential (addition and renovation of existing), and institutional (Medical Office Suite interior, Washington Adventist as-built drawings in CAD) projects. Her consulting firm provides customized CAD training whose goal is to generate a project-specific kit of parts. She holds professional memberships with AIA, IDEC, IES, and ISP.
Professor Speck teaches lighting, CAD, historic preservation, institutional design, and construction methods.

Professor Spomer has worked in the design field in a variety of capacities. These
include designing the Mercyhurst College bookstore interior, overseeing and
contributing to the design of a "green living" lounge in a college apartment
complex and as a faculty advisor for a student chapter of ASID. Her favorite
design projects involve the adaptive reuse of vacant and abandoned buildings,
primarily in the Barton Heights historic district in Richmond, Virginia. These
residential projects were returned to their initial context and use and then
sold to low or middle income families who could not otherwise afford to purchase
a home. Professor Spomer's special interest involves adaptive reuse of structures
using environmentally friendly processes and products.
Professor Spomer teaches textile and finish materials, commercial design and
design basics.
