Dr. Spocter is a biological anthropologist with a special interest in the evolution of hominid brain and body size.

Research

Dr. Spocter’s comparative research has centered on issues relating to allometric scaling of brain size when viewed from different levels of organization. In particular he is interested in the cellular manifestation of brain asymmetry and correlates with behavioral lateralization.

Current Research Projects

  1. Examining the relationship between hand preference and the cortical cytoachitecture of the temporoparietal cortex in chimpanzees.
  2. Collaborating on a chimpanzee-human surface registration of the cerebral cortex.
