Meghan
Drury is a first year Ph.D. student in American Studies, and her
interests are centered around cultural connections, Arab and Jewish
American identities, popular music, and performance studies. She
received an MA in ethnomusicology from UC Riverside in 2006, with
a thesis about intercultural relationships in a Middle Eastern music
ensemble in Los Angeles. Meghan hopes to expand this project to
examine the cultural and political implications of other artistic
realms such as Arab and Jewish hip hop and bellydance. Her secondary
interests include whiteness studies, critical theory, and the politics
of globalization.
