YOUNG ALUMNI NETWORK EXPANDS TO INCLUDE GRADUATES OF THE PAST 10 YEARS!
The Young Alumni Network now includes all graduates of the past 10 years! Originally created for recent graduates of the past five years, YAN has expanded to serve more alumni.
Graduates of the past 10 years are automatically a part of the network at no cost. With more than 220,000 alumni spread out around the globe, there will always be another Colonial close by!
YAN sponsors events, such as happy hours and community service projects, in Washington, D.C. and New York City.
All recent graduates who want to start enjoying the benefits and privileges of being alumni and maintain their connections to GW can do so through YAN.

CLASS OF 2006 ALUMNI BRICKS INSTALLED IN UNIVERSITY YARD
The GWAA is pleased to announce that the Class of 2006 bricks have been installed in University Yard. The 2006 bricks begin in the center of University Yard and continue down the diagonal path towards Stuart Hall. Bricks are arranged separately by semester of graduation, according to the university’s registrar office.
Bricks for the classes 2002-2006 are located in University Yard. Bricks for the classes 1990-1995 and 1997-2001 are located in Kogan Plaza. Bricks for the class of 1996 are located in Anniversary Park (F Street between 21st and 22nd St).

More than a million people from around the world attended the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. GW had a strong presence at the games with alumni and students competing for medals, participating in events, and attending the games. Here is a recap of how some of your fellow Colonials were involved in the Beijing Olympics.
Alumnae Lead Spain to Olympics Quarterfinal Round
Former George Washington women's basketball standouts Anna Montañana, GWSB BBA ’06, and Elisa Aguilar CCAS BA ’00, helped the Spanish Women’s National Basketball Team advance to the elimination stage of the 2008 Olympic Games after finishing preliminary round play with a 3-2 record. Spain lost to eventual bronze medalist Russia 84-65 in the Olympic quarterfinals on Aug. 19. Montañana led Spain and ranked in the top seven among all players in the Olympics in scoring (14.5 ppg), field goal percentage (50%), and steals (2.3 spg).

A GW alumni panel discussion and reception was held during the Beijing Olympic Games on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at Prince Jun Palace in the Olympic Reunion Center. The attendees discussedthe ins and outs of doing business in China and the impact of the Olympic Games on the Chinese economy, culture, and environment. Following the alumni panels, GW students spoke about their experiences at the 2008 Olympic Games. The evening closed with a reception for all students and alumni.
Alumni panelists included Bo Jin, GWSB MBA '01, MAccy '03, consulting director for China Textile Planning Institute of Construction; Qian Li, GWSB MAccy ’01, of China Power Investment Corp.; Austin Hu, GWSB MBA ’77, senior advisor for international development at the Tsinghua University School of Public Policy and Management and senior consultant to the head of the China Office of the World Bank; Loretta Evans, SEAS DSc '03, director of international marketing at Loop Technology Co., Ltd in China; and Shimin Luo, GWSB MBA '00, founder and president of Mintor Co.

GW School of Business Students and Professor Blog About Olympics Experience
Lisa Delpy Neirotti, associate professor of tourism and sport management, took 28 graduate students enrolled in her “Behind the Scenes at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games” class to Beijing from Aug. 4 to Aug. 24 to learn about the latest sports marketing and business ideas. The students collected surveys from spectators on their spending habits and thoughts on customer service at the games and toured prominent sites such as the International Broadcast Centre and the U.S. Training Center. The students also met with International Olympic Committee members and Olympic sponsors, including Samsung, VISA, and Coca-Cola.
