From The Kalb Report with Bill O’Reilly to a family barbeque and carnival, the nearly 100 events happening during Alumni Weekend, Sept. 25-28, offer something for everyone.
Prominent entertainers and newsmakers featured during the three-day event include Rainn Wilson from The Office, television news host Bill O’Reilly, actress Kerry Washington, CCAS BA ’98, political strategist Paul Begala, and musician Peter Yarrow from Peter, Paul, and Mary.
“It’s a blockbuster weekend unlike any GW has seen before with a variety of events ranging from big-name entertainers to political superstars,” said Andrew Kaufteil, senior director of alumni relations.
Alumni, family, and friends can also enjoy class reunions, club and group events, academic lectures and panels, campus activities, and family-friendly events.
“Hundreds of volunteers have been involved in planning the events, calling classmates, and raising class gifts,” said Stephanie Medwid, associate director of classes and reunions. “What the weekend is really about is reconnecting with the campus and GW, hopefully seeing some familiar faces, and making new connections with people.”
The classes of 2003, 1998, 1988, 1983, 1960-69, and 1958 and earlier will all be celebrating their reunions, along with gatherings of Law, Medical, MBA, Mount Vernon alumni, and many clubs and groups including GW Alumni in Politics, the Latino and Pan-Asian Alumni Associations, and The Cherry Tree. All alumni who graduated in 1960-1969 are invited to a special 1960s-themed reunion celebration. Members of fraternities and sororities are also celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Greek Life at GW with an all-alumni Greek Reunion and various chapter events.
The variety of campus, academic, and cultural events held during Alumni Weekend includes a party at Alumni House, student-led tours of Thurston Hall, a Mediterranean wine tasting, a “Gender and the Presidential Primary” panel discussion, and more.
