Teach for America is Top Employer of GW Grads

Forty-seven GW graduates have chosen to join the ranks of our nation’s educators through Teach for America, making the nonprofit program the top employer for GW seniors. The university’s acceptance rate in the program is 32 percent – more than double the national average of 14.5 percent. Beginning in August, these alumni will influence the lives of nearly 8,000 students in low-income urban and rural public schools throughout the country.

“Public Service is an integral part of the GW experience and is embraced by our students, faculty, staff, and alumni,” said GW President Steven Knapp. “We are proud that so many of this year’s graduates have chosen to make this exceptional commitment.”

This group comprises leaders from diverse organizations at the university, including the Student Association; Class Council; Colonial Cabinet; the Student Admissions Representative program and Visitor Information Program; the Multicultural Student Services Center; the University Honors Program; the Office of Community Service; honor societies Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Beta Kappa, and Golden Key; the Senior Class Gift Committee; and Alternative Spring Break.
