The George Washington University, in partnership with DuPont, will host the Science Olympiad National Tournament on Friday and Saturday, May 30 – 31, 2008. Teams representing schools from across the United States will compete in over 50 hands-on science, engineering, and technology events including science lab experiments, wooden tower building, working robots, and flying hand-built model airplanes.
Experienced supervisors will run the events, but specific event volunteers are needed on Friday and Saturday, May 30-31 to help as timekeepers, proctors, and scorers. General tournament assistance volunteers are also needed Tuesday, May 27 through Saturday, May 31 to help with set-up for the tournament, registration/information, ceremonies and greeting and directing participant and visitors. Please note that volunteers are able to serve in multiple capacities, for example, a specific event volunteer could also volunteer in other areas when their competition is not being held. No experience is needed, but if you have had Science Olympiad experience you can be especially helpful. If you are interested in volunteering, click here.
