
The GW Alumni Association’s Nominations Committee is currently accepting nominations for President-Elect and Member-at-Large. The deadline for submission is May 2, 2008.

An abbreviated description of the positions available for nomination and the criteria used to evaluate nominations is outlined below. For detailed information on each position’s duties and responsibilities, as well as the expectations of all members of the Board of Directors, please view the Bylaws of The George Washington Alumni Association.
Positions available for nomination
President-Elect
- President-Elect (a one-year term) is a position “in training” for subsequent duty as the President of the GW Alumni Association (a two-year term).
- The President-Elect will participate as fully as possible in the duties and functions of the Association and the Board of Directors. In the absence of the President, the President-Elect shall exercise the duties of the President.
- In order to be eligible for election as President-Elect, a nominee must have served as a member of the Board of Directors for at least two (2) years prior to the commencement of the prospective term.
Member-at-Large
Member-at-Large appointments are made with respect to
- A candidate’s involvement in regional alumni programs of the GWAA that take place outside of the Washington, D.C. area, and/or
- A candidate’s ability to bring needed qualifications to the Board.
Election Process
- The GW Alumni Association’s Nominations Committee reserves the right to conduct interviews to narrow a decision between two or more candidates for the position of President-Elect or Member-At-Large.
- The Nominations Committee will contact its final candidates to confirm their willingness to serve after it convenes to review applications the week of May 12, 2008.
- Upon confirmation at the Annual Meeting on June 11, 2008, both the President-Elect and the Member-At-Large will assume office immediately.
