Lawrence also was recently selected to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-America Third Team. A communications and sociology major, Lawrence is the third player in GW women's basketball history to be named a national Academic All-American, joining Kenan Cole (first team) in 2007 and Jennifer Shasky (second team) in 1993.

George Washington senior women's basketball player Kimberly Beck has been named one of 10 final nominees for the Rotary Club of Detroit's Nancy Lieberman Award, which honors the nation's top Division I point guard.

Beck, who was one of three finalists for the Lieberman Award in 2007, leads the Atlantic 10 in assists (6.3 apg) for the fourth consecutive season. The two-time first team All-Atlantic 10 pick and the league's 2007 Defensive Player of the Year, Beck is adding a career-best 13.7 points per game for the nationally ranked Colonials. She is the only player in A-10 history to record at least 1,200 points, 600 assists, 300 rebounds, 200 steals, and 60 blocks during her four-year career.

#15 GW (24-5, 12-2 A-10) ended the regular season in a tie with Temple for first place in the Atlantic 10. The A-10 Championship tips off Friday, March 7 at Saint Joseph University’s Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse in Philadelphia, Penn. The Colonials will face the winner of the first-round contest between St. Bonaventure and Rhode Island in the quarterfinals on Saturday, March 8.
