The GW baseball team will be the first team to play an official game in the new Washington Nationals stadium, Nationals Park, when the Colonials face off against Saint Joseph’s University on March 22.

The game will be privately ticketed and is not open to the public, as previously announced jointly by GW and the Washington Nationals. The game will serve as an opportunity for the Nationals to assess its facilities and operations prior to the team’s first game against the Baltimore Orioles on March 29.

The George Washington University will distribute its limited ticket allocation to students, GW’s baseball team and their family members, and donors to GW’s baseball and athletic programs, as well as compile a wait list for other GW community members. Wait list requests from GW alumni can be sent to alumni@gwu.edu. Wait list distribution is to take place sometime after student ticket distribution on March 12.

Ownership of the Washington Nationals baseball team is led by GW alumnus and Nationals managing principal owner Ted Lerner, AA '48, LLB '50, along with GW alumni Mark Lerner, BBA'75, Marla Lerner Tanenbaum, JD '83; and Robert K. Tanenbaum, JD '82.

GW will host Saint Joseph's University at Nationals Park on Saturday, March 22, at 1:05 p.m., with gates scheduled to open at 12 p.m. The Atlantic 10 Conference contest, which takes place eight days before the Nationals' official opener on March 30, will be the first game played at the new home of the Washington Nationals. Though played at a neutral site, it will count as a regular season A-10 home game for GW.
