The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) named Associate Professor of Geology Richard Tollo the District of Columbia Professor of the Year for 2007. This is the third year in a row that a GW faculty member has received this prestigious award and seventh time overall that a GW professor has won. The CASE award has been recognizing undergraduate professors who have shown exceptional dedication to students and education since 1981.

George Solomon, associate professor of management and director of the Center For Entrepreneurial Excellence, won a 2008 Teaching Excellence Award from the Foundation for Entrepreneurial Excellence (FEE). The Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education Award is given to teachers who are dedicated to developing future entrepreneurs and delivering top notch entrepreneurship courses at their schools. Solomon will receive a $1,000 award, as well as an all-expense-paid trip for himself and a student to the FEE Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education Awards Ceremony in Austin, Texas, in February. Awardees must be nominated by a student; the student who nominated Solomon will also receive a $1,000 scholarship. At the ceremony, three teachers will be awarded an additional $5,000 award, and one teacher will be named The FEE Entrepreneurship Teacher of the Year and awarded $10,000.
