In the 1980s, GW became the first university in the world to offer a degree in the now burgeoning field of Political Communication. In the years since, “Poli Comm” alumni, who now number more than 500, have been busy as presidential campaign decision-makers, professional campaign consultants, Capitol Hill press secretaries, network news correspondents, policy advocates, public affairs professionals, government officials, scholars, and many other endeavors. In April 2008, we’ll celebrate the 25th anniversary of Poli Comm at GW.
A committee of alumni and faculty has been hard at work planning the celebration, which will include a keynote by our very first graduate, panels featuring more than a dozen alumni from politics and the media as well as current students, a chance to see old friends, and a chance to meet lots of new ones.
If you graduated with a degree in Political Communication and have not received an e-mail about the celebration, there are two things you should do. First, save the dates — Friday evening, April 11, and Saturday morning, April 12. And second, send an e-mail to Paul Fucito, pfucito@gwu.edu, with your up-to-date contact information, including your e-mail address. Invitations and more details on the program will be going out in late January.
