MEN’S A-10 CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT PACKAGES – ON SALE
A-10 Men’s Basketball Tournament ticket packages are now available for purchase through the Office of Alumni Programs. The George Washington Colonials are leading the Atlantic-10 Conference, and you won’t want to miss these games!

The tournament runs from March 7-10, 2007 at historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The ticket packages include every game of the tournament, and the cost is $140 per package.

After you have purchased your tickets through this site, you will receive a confirmation of your order. Ticket distribution will be determined shortly. Additionally, GW is planning a pre-game reception for Thursday, March 8 – keep your eye on upcoming issues of the Colonial Cable and the Regional Round Up for details.

GW COLONIALS VS. XAVIER MUSKETEERS (GAME SOLD OUT) – ALUMNI TAILGATE
The GW men’s basketball team takes on Atlantic-10 rival Xavier. The game will be televised on ESPN, and the University is hosting a “Buff Out” promotion. The first 50 alumni to attend our pre-game event will receive a special buff T-shirt to wear to the game so that all may see our Colonials’ pride!

GW CHAMBER MUSIC SEMINAR PRESENTS MUSIC FOR BRUNCH
This free event features GW faculty, staff, students, and alumni as well as members of the Washington area performing works by Schubert, Beethoven, Piazolla, and Schumann. Also, the world premiere of Jessica Krash’s Bagatelles will be presented.

THE SEVENTH ANNUAL FLAMENCO FESTIVAL WITH CAMPANIA RAFAELA CARRASCO
The Seventh Annual Flamenco Festival features the world’s best flamenco music and dance. We have purchased a set of tickets for the finale performance of the week of festivities. Join GW alumni for a pre-show reception and then watch renowned dancer Rafaela Carrasco’s Una Mirada del Flamenco (A Look at Flamenco).

Rafaela Carrasco is a breathtaking dancer and one of the most important flamenco choreographers of today’s generation. Carrasco is uniquely able to keep one foot within “old world” flamenco while seamlessly combining it with the new. She is joined by her company of dancers and musicians performing the DC premiere of Una Mirada del Flamenco.

The cost of this event is $40 and includes the show and pre-show reception. Tickets will be available for pickup at the reception until 30 minutes prior, after which they will be at Lisner Will Call. Tickets are limited, so please register today to reserve your spot. We hope to see you there!

HEDGE FUND 101 WITH RAY NOLTE BBA ’83
The Finance and Investment Club, the F. David Fowler Career Center and the Office of Advancement present Hedge Fund 101 with Ray Nolte, BBA ’83, the CEO of the Fund of Hedge Funds Group at Citigroup Alternative Investments. He also serves as the Chairman of the Fund of Hedge Funds Group’s Investment Committee.

Nolte was the founder and Head of the Investment Committee for Deutsche Bank’s first fund of hedge funds. The business was composed of several multi-manager multi-strategy funds and several strategy specific funds of funds and separate accounts.

The event is open to GWSB students and alumni.

HOW DO I BECOME A SUPREME COURT JUSTICE?
Come hear Joseph Baca, retired Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court and one of Hispanic Business magazine’s “100 Most Influential Hispanics,” discuss his years on the bench. Baca, who received his JD in 1964 from GW, is also the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree and the J. William Fulbright Award for Distinguished Public Service from GW’s Law School.

GW SUMMER SCHOLARS PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAM
The GW Summer Scholars Program offers two programs for academically motivated high school students: 10-day mini-courses and a 6-week pre-college program. The mini-courses are intensive, highly interactive seminars in topics such as law and evidence, photojournalism, election politics, and engineering. The 6-week pre-college program offers qualified high school juniors the opportunity to enroll in challenging undergraduate courses for credit while previewing an authentic college experience.

Summer Scholars also enroll in a writing course that focuses on honing critical thinking skills through thematically linked reading and writing assignments. Academic exploration, college life, admissions, and enrichment programs are included. Residential and commuter options are available for both programs.
