Winter is fast approaching here at GW. The Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Loudoun campuses are beautiful as the trees turn color. Students have finished their midterms and it already feels like the semester is winding down.
We just finished a very successful Colonials Weekend during which I, like hundreds of other alumni, celebrated a reunion. I loved visiting old friends during my 10th reunion, strolling down memory lane, and reliving some of the GW experience. That’s what it’s all about, right? And my experience was not unique. In the Law School, the Medical School, and in undergraduate classes from 1956, 1976, 1981, and 2001, GW alumni re-experienced their campus days for a fleeting weekend. Other highlights from the weekend included a candid interview with President Trachtenberg, breakfasts with the deans, lectures from some of GW’s best professors, and, of course, Seinfeld!
I also want to thank all the alumni who turned out to the Board of Trustees’ town hall meetings in September, and all the alumni who came to celebrate the legacy of President Trachtenberg in October and November. As alumni, we have a responsibility at this time to both look to GW’s future and celebrate our past accomplishments. The receptions honoring President Trachtenberg were some of the biggest alumni events we have ever hosted. Your tributes to the President have been heartfelt by him and by the GW community.
Finally, as Thanksgiving approaches, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of GW and the GW Alumni Association. You are why we do what we do. It warms our hearts to see you at events, to benefit from your volunteerism, and to see the impact of your philanthropy. We are already looking forward to 2007. More on our plans for the coming year in next month’s Cable.
Warm regards and Happy Thanksgiving,

Scott M. Mory, BA ’96, JD ’99
Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving
