Obama Campaign Announces Woodbury County Leadership Committee

TODAY: Committee Members to Make Phone Calls To Woodbury County Undecided Caucus-Goers

DES MOINES – Today, the Obama Campaign announced a 33-member leadership committee that will take an active role in guiding and participating in the campaign’s outreach efforts in Woodbury County. The committee members will meet at the Obama for America’s Sioux City office to make phone calls to undecided Woodbury county residents to talk about Senator Obama vision for changing America and why they have decided to support him in the 2008 Iowa Caucus.

“At a time when our country is as divided as it’s ever been, Senator Obama has the unique skills to bring this nation together to tackle the challenges we face,” said State Senator Steve Warnstadt. “I am proud to support Barack Obama because he has consistently exercised good judgment and he will bring that excellent judgment to the White House where it is so desperately needed.”

State Senator Steve Warnstadt, a veteran of Operation Desert Storm, will serve as one of Senator Obama’s Woodbury County Chairs. Also serving as Woodbury County Chairs for the Obama Campaign are Tim Bottaro, Attorney at Law and former Chair of the Woodbury Democratic Party and Rick Mullin, member of the Iowa Democratic Party State Central Committee, Vice-Chairman of the 5th Congressional District Democrats and former Chair of the Woodbury Democratic Party.

“The courage and judgment Senator Obama showed in speaking out against the Iraq war before it began is what we need in the Oval Office not just on matters of war and peace, but in setting a course for change in America,” said Tim Bottaro.

Dedicated to building upon Senator Obama’s grassroots movement for change, the leadership committee brings local knowledge and experience to Senator Obama’s organization in Woodbury County.

“Senator Obama’s experience as a community organizer taught him that change will only come to this nation when we learn to work together in our own communities to work towards a better future,” said Rick Mullin. “I am glad to be working in my community to elect a president who will create a universal health care system, reform our energy policy and strengthen our schools.”
