Iowa Democratic Party
Delegates to the 2008 State Convention by County
2,500 Total State Delegates
Source: Iowa Democratic Party
The formula for apportioning delegates to the State Convention is based on Democrats' top of the ticket showings in 2004 and 2006:
K/E '04 + Culver '06 County Total
K/E '04 + Culver '06 State Total
x State Delegate Total
(2,500)
= Number of
State Delegates
Round down fractions lower than 0.50 and round up fractions higher than 0.50.

Example.
Tama County:  8,252 total votes for Kerry/Edwards 04 and Culver 06
Iowa: 1,310,865 total votes for Kerry/Edwards 04 and Culver 06
(8,252 / 1,310,865) x 2,500 = 15.737
The Tama County Convention will elect 16 delegates to the State Convention.
