Romney for President, Inc.
30-second ad run in IA announced Dec. 28, 2008.
|Romney (voiceover): I'm
Mitt Romney and I approved this message.
[Music] Female Announcer: Two good men.
But who is ready to make tough decisions?
Mike Huckabee? Soft on government spending. He grew a $6 billion government into a $16 billion government.
Backed in-state tuition benefits for illegals, and granted 1,033 pardons and commutations, including 12 murderers.
His foreign policy? 'Ludicrous,' says Condoleezza Rice.
Mitt Romney held spending down below inflation. Cut taxes. Zero pardons.
The difference? Strong leadership.
On Dec. 31, 2007 Huckabee held a press conference where he denounced
the ad. Speaking to a crowded room of reporters in Des Moines, he
his campaign had produced an attack ad but would not run it. He
famously proceeded to show the ad to
the many reporters in the room.
Also Brooks Jackson of FactCheck.org reported that the ad did run in
Iowa at least ten times, although his campaign had tried to stop it.
