as chairman of the party starting in 1972 and was the Republican nominee
for U.S. Senate in 1978 but died in a plane crash.

director of the Ohio Republican Party starting in late 2000. He served
as regional field director for the Ohio Republican Party from 1997-2000;

for Dole/Kemp. From Bowling Green.

Smith came to the Republican Party of Virginia from his position as legislative
consultant in the law firm of Reed Smith. He served Gov. James Gilmore
as liaison for House relations and was deputy director of the Governor's
Blue Ribbon Commission on Higher Education. Smith graduated from
the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in government and sociology.
