Examinations
 
 

University policies and procedures covering the conduct of examinations are outlined below.

SCHEDULE
Final examinations for undergraduate courses are scheduled to occur at the end of each semester, as announced by the Registrar’s Office, normally through the Schedule of Classes. No changes in the schedule day and hour are to be made unless approved by the Registrar and by the dean and coordinated through the Scheduling Office. Examinations for courses numbered 201 or above are scheduled, if desired, by the individual departments or instructor. Room assignments for these examinations must be cleared with the Registrar’s Office in a timely manner. Final examinations for the Law School, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and School of Public Health and Health Services are scheduled by the appropriate dean’s office.

PREPARATION OF MATERIALS
All examination questions should be kept in the personal possession of the instructor or under lock until the time of the examinations. All drafts and waste copies should be destroyed.

CONDUCT OF EXAMINATIONS
The instructor in charge of a course is responsible for the conduct and direct supervision of examinations. Proctors may be utilized to ensure the proper conduct of examinations, with the approval of the department chair and in accordance with the following formula:

Classes of 25 or fewer- None
Classes of 26 to 50- 1 proctor
Classes of over 50- 2 proctors

No materials except those specified and actually needed by the students should be in evidence during the examinations. Upon collection of papers, the instructor should make a check against the class roll to determine any students have missed the examination.
