Socio-Economic Change in China:
A Language and Culture Program

PROGRAM
Spend four weeks in Beijing, studying Chinese at Beijing International Studies University in an intensive native-speaker environment while earning credit for Anthropology 151, ‘Development Anthropology’. Language classes will meet each morning for four hours, and anthropology will meet two afternoons per week. On weekends we will visit important cultural and historical sites in the Beijing region. For the final week, we will travel in Northeastern China, visiting the Mongolian grasslands, the Yungang Buddhist Grottoes, the Fifth Century Hanging Monastery, and Mount Wutai, before returning to Beijing and departing for the US. COSTS
The cost of the program is estimated at $3,953 for three credits tuition, study abroad insurance, lodging, BISU enrollment fee, and cultural events. International airfare and personal expenses are not included.

Students need to contact the professor of the course directly, and then complete the online application. Applications are due by FEBRUARY 29, 2008. A nonrefundable fee will apply to students who withdraw after the registration deadline.
