Suspicious and Unattended Packages

This information is provided in order to increase awareness of suspicious packages and the proper responses to bomb threats. It is part of an ongoing campaign by the Office of Safety and Security to remind members of the campus community to be aware of their surroundings.

 

If you see a suspicious or unattended package or receive a bomb threat, follow the insturctions provided and immediately notify GWPD: 202-994-6111.

The Office of Safety and Security has Moved

The Office of Safety and Security relocated to the Academic Center to provide ease and accessibility of safety and security services to all university stakeholders including, students, parents, faculty, and staff. The Office of Emergnecy Management and the Office of Health and Safety are now located in Phillips Hall, Suite B148. GWPD is located in Rome Hall, Suite 101.

Information about Active Shooters

The Office of Safety and Security provides a variety of resources to help individuals prepare for the possibility of an active shooter on campus. Please familiarize yourself with these resources, and as always, if you see something, say something. Report threatening behavior or suspicious activity to GWPD at 202-994-6111.

Darrell DarnellWelcome to The George Washington University Office of Safety and Security. We are excited to have you as a part of our university community, and we hope to make your time at GW both safe and enjoyable.

The Office of Safety and Security coordinates across the University to provide you with the resources necessary to live, learn, and work safely at The George Washington University. The Office of Emergency Management helps community members prepare for large-scale events and stay informed before, during and after an emergency. The George Washington Police Department, a fully accredited law enforcement agency commissioned by the District of Columbia, protects the University community through crime prevention and emergency services. The Office of Health & Safety promotes a safe working environment in offices and laboratories and provides fire and life safety services in all buildings.These three units comprise the Office of Safety and Security.
