Living @ GW
Living at GW is about having everything you need to fully experience student life, campus involvement, student support services, residence halls, dining, and other activities and amenities.
Residence halls with character
and historic significance, over 330 student organizations, and state-of-the-art
fitness facilities are just highlights of the total GW experience.
Life at The George Washington University is fast-paced, all-encompassing,
and always exciting. We strive to make the student life services enriching
to the academic endeavors of our students.
Students from all over the world make
their home at GW in one of 33 distinctive housing options, on both
the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses. Starting with freshman year,
students find a student connection from the Dean of Freshmen and the Dean
of Students offices. With the help of GW Housing
Programs, students are able to find the residence hall that best suits their
needs, acclimate themselves to campus life, and intertwine their extra-curricular
interests with an academic curriculum. GW residence halls are some of
the most advanced - offering personal mail services, high-speed Internet
connectivity, cable television, and individual telephone
lines. Because of the features that make our halls unique, hundreds
of students from across the country take advantage of summer housing
options when working or interning in the city.
The Cloyd Heck Marvin Center is
the hub of campus life at GW. On the fourth floor, the Student Activities
Center encompasses everything from student organizations to campus events
and our new student orientation program, Colonial Inauguration.
Events and student life at the Mount Vernon Campus add to the constant
excitement and energy at GW. The Marvin Center's main dining facility,
"J Street", is just one of many numerous dining options - which include
both on- and off-campus venues - that participate in our Colonial Cash
program. The University
Club, featuring the Riverhorse Bistro,
is GW's newly re-imagined community and culinary venture.
GW is committed to providing its community
of students, staff, faculty, and alumni with the utmost care in all aspects
of campus life. We offer many specialty services, including our Career
Center, University Counseling Center, International Services
Office, Multicultural Student Services Center, Student Health
Services, Disability Support Services, and the University Police
Department.
Fueled in part by Colonial Athletics
and spirit programs, our campus is bursting with GW pride and Colonial
spirit. Those who cheer on our varsity teams from the sidelines are
not excluded from the action, as GW boasts a state-of-the-art health complex,
club and intramural sports programs, athletic fields, and numerous
options for staying healthy and active.
