Interviewing Candidates

The hiring department is responsible for interviewing candidates. Supervisors can consult applicable training programs such as the Staff Recruitment and Employment Interviewing Training on the Employee Training and Development (ETD) web site for additional information.

Departments must conduct all employment interviews fairly and consistently. All interview questions must be relevant to the performance of the applicable position. Certain subjects or areas of inquiry are unlawful or inappropriate topics for interview questions. To avoid these legal pitfalls, hiring departments should refer to the information below before conducting interviews with identified candidates.
