Types of Voluntary Termination Description Employees Responsibilities Forms Final Pay Date
Early Retirement An employee is eligible at age 55 with a minimum of 20 years of full-time equivalent service credit or at age 60 with a minimum of 10 years full-time equivalent service credit.

Submit his or her intent to retire in writing to their supervisor with a minimum of 90 days of advance notice.

Notify Employee Benefits Administration

Complete Exit Interview with Employee Relations.

Contact Employee Benefits Administration Next regularly scheduled payday or within seven days of last day of work, whichever is earlier.
End of Appointment or Contract An employee in this type of position is provided with a University-approved document curtaining the terms and conditions of employment. Complete Exit Interview with Employee Relations.

Change in Status form


The employee's last month Leave Administration form

Next regularly scheduled payday or within seven days of last day of work, whichever is earlier.
End of Temporary Appointment     Change in Status form

The employee's last month Leave Administration form
Next regularly scheduled payday or within seven days of last day of work, whichever is earlier.
Retirement An employee is eligible at the age of 65.

Submit his or her intent to retire to his or her supervisor with a minimum of 90 days of advance notice.

Notify Employee Benefits Administration.

Complete Exit Interview with Employee Relations.

Change in Status form

The employee's last month Leave Administration form
Next regularly scheduled payday or within seven days of last day of work, whichever is earlier.
Resignation An oral or written statement of voluntary intent to terminate employment with the University. An employee who fails to provide 10 or more business days advance notice will be considered to have abandoned his or her position and thus ineligible for rehire at the University.

Submit resignation to his or her supervisor at least 10 days before the intended date of termination. (Note: The letter should state the reason for and effective date of termination.)

Complete Exit Interview with Employee Relations.
