Flu season is here, and it’s more important than ever for you to take care of your health. By getting a single flu shot you can protect yourself against the seasonal flu, H1N1 and other forms of the flu virus. In your email please specify: "GWU Flu Shots" in the Subject Line, your name, campus location, preferred date, email and phone number.
Flu shots are also available at CVS Pharmacy, Rite-Aid Pharmacy, Target Pharmacy and Walgreens Pharmacy at no cost for faculty and staff who participate in any of GW's medical plans. This also includes your spouse/domestic partner and dependent children if they are covered under your GW health plan. Just present your UnitedHealthcare card (see below) and your shot is 100% covered. To learn more, check out this one-pager from UnitedHealthcare.
Please note that there may be some instances where a particular location offered by one of the above centers is not participating in the national UnitedHealthcare network. If you have any questions, please call the phone number located on the back of your UnitedHealthcare card.
Do your part to fight the flu. Getting vaccinated doesn't protect just you, but it protects everyone around you, including your family, friends and colleagues. Stop by a participating pharmacy near your work or home today, or one of the on campus flu clinics, and get the shot. It is easy and convenient.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that influenza activity remains high in the United States and this may continue for some time. LifeCare GW's Work-Life Referral Benefit offers a breath of resources to help you fight the flu including this flu prevention guide which provides valuable information about preventing the flu .
There are at least six participating CVS and Walgreens pharmacies within walking distance of the Foggy Bottom campus and at least two within a few miles of the Virginia Science and Technology Campus.
