Colonial Community is looking for faculty and staff who want to play a vital role in making GW a great place to work. Ambassadors act as a liaison between Colonial Community and your department or division by supporting our efforts to promote work-life balance, health & wellness, recognition, and community building. As a Colonial Community Ambassador you would be equipped with the information and resources needed to inspire your colleagues to take advantage of all that GW has to offer.

Network and collaborate with other GW employees.
Play an important role in improving morale within your area.
Demonstrate a commitment to GW’s Values.
Be recognized as a Colonial Community Ambassador.
Serving as a Colonial Community Ambassador does not require a large time commitment (3-5 hours a month) and you can end your term at any time. However, this role is essential to making GW a great place to work.
Participate in quarterly Ambassadors meetings. Two meetings in-person (with call-in option) and two via webinar.
Subscribe to and read weekly Colonial Community listserv emails (5 minutes/week max).
Participate in Colonial Community activities and encourage your colleagues to join you.
Use GW’s work/life benefits to familiarize yourself with the services and be able to speak to their value.
Have a good understanding of your area’s employee population and potential interests/needs.
Regularly identify ways to communicate Colonial Community activities and programs such as presenting at All Hands Meetings, submitting text for division/department/school newsletters, posting flyers and posters in areas of high visibility, etc.
Work with your senior leaders to get leadership buy-in and support of employees participating in Colonial Community activities.
Complete short quarterly Ambassador Evaluation providing details on your communication efforts and feedback for Colonial Community on ways we can better support you and the employees you serve.
Host quarterly Ambassador’s meetings.
Be a resource for Ambassadors to answer questions or provide additional support.
Provide communication packets to include sample emails, newsletter text, posters, and other materials to support Ambassadors communication efforts.
Respond to feedback received in Ambassador Evaluations and tailor Ambassador Program or Colonial Community activities based on feedback.
Check-in with Ambassadors individually every 6 months to determine ability to continue in role.
Recognize the contributions of our Ambassadors and create opportunities for networking and professional development.
