Halls & Amenities

A lot of your time at GW will be spent outside the classroom, in your room and with your house community. You have choices when it comes to selecting the room costs, hall amenities, building locations and roommates that fit your GW life. You have options in our individualized housing assignments program— iHousing. It is easy, online, flexible and personalized to your individual housing preferences.
Residence Hall Amenities
Standard amenities include:
- Cable television
- Data and voice connections for each student
- Microwaves and refrigerators in each room
- Many residence halls have kitchens
Undergraduate Residence Halls by Year
GW's residential house system converts traditional residential halls into theme-based houses that focus on providing academic readiness and character development opportunities. This unique living program is tailored to the individual interests of each of our many, diverse students.
Scholars Village Townhouses
Scholars' Village Townhouses, groupings of townhouse dwellings with interesting architectural details, are located at key street intersections of the campus. This unique housing concept gives the upperclassmen who live in them an authentic, residential neighborhood living experience.
Each townhouse accommodates four to nine residents. Generally, each townhouse offers a full kitchen, one or two full bathrooms, a private backyard, and a living room with cable TV.
Stepping from of any of these choice Foggy Bottom brownstones, you are in the midst of campus landmarks, recreational facilities and academic buildings. Your townhouse roommates are among the most intellectually curious and gifted GW students.
No two Scholars' Village townhouses are the same. Most include two residential levels, plus a common first floor and basement. The amenities also vary from townhouse to townhouse. For detailed information about each townhouse, contact GW Housing.
Greek Housing
A number of Greek organizations maintain chapter houses with living arrangements for members on the GW campus. From 8-30 students live in each house.
Greek Townhouse Row
Eight chapters are individually housed in Greek Townhouse Row.
International House and Strong Hall
A number of chapters reside in individual floors in International House and Strong Hall.
Individual Houses
Five chapters, ZBT, ΒΘΠ, ΑΕΠ, ΑΕΦ, and ΣΔΤ, reside in individual houses on the GW campus.
Three chapters, ΦΣΚ, ΤΚΕ, and ∆T∆, are housed within the campus boundaries in independently-owned houses.
These chapter listings are for Academic Year 2011-2012 and are subject to change annually.
Graduate Student Housing
GW offers both on-campus and off-campus housing options to our graduate students. Law, medical, graduate and professional degree students can enjoy living in a safe, diverse community in convenient proximity to all of the university’s schools and colleges.
