Luther Rice Society
It all started with Luther Rice. He raised funds and lobbied President James Monroe and the U.S. Congress to make George Washington’s vision of a university in the heart of our nation’s capital a reality. Since 1968, the Luther Rice Society has honored his memory by recognizing distinguished alumni and friends who contribute to GW annually at the following levels:
- $250+ for alumni within five years of graduation
- $500+ for alumni within six to nine years of graduation
- $1,000+ for alumni 10 or more years after graduation
Members of the society receive exclusive invitations to regional events and premium networking services, as well as increased access to GW’s leading alumni and officials. They also receive opportunities to join industry-specific networking groups.
Luther Rice Advisory Council
The Luther Rice Society Advisory Council, the society’s governing board, promotes leadership annual giving to create a culture of philanthropy and provide an example for tomorrow’s alumni.
