The Special Collections Research Center provides various access tools that allow researchers to locate useful materials.
- To locate books and maps related to your topic use the Library’s online catalog ALADIN.
- To locate non-book materials such as manuscripts, maps, and photographs use Genie.
In addition to these tools, Special Collections Research Center staff members are available for reference consultations to discuss a research topic, help formulate search strategies, and locate useful materials. We have the capacity to assist remote users with questions that do not require more than one hour of research time.
We can also help with accessing and effectively using the online catalogs (Genie and Aladin) and answering simple fact-based question such as determining whether a person graduated from GW.
For those patrons who are unable to visit, but have an in-depth research question, Special Collection has a list of local researchers for hire.
Please contact Special Collections (speccoll@gwu.edu) with inquiries.
