I. Edward Kiev Judaica Collection
- the Kiev Judaica Collection is a specialized collection of rare books and other printed materials documenting the Jewish experience including over 22,000 books, pamphlets, and periodicals, as well as manuscripts, graphic art, and artifacts. The majority of materials date from the 18th through the 20th century, but there are also works that date back to the 15th centuries. The collection covers the range of Jewish studies, from biblical exegesis and archeology to Jewish history and modern Hebrew literature.

Rare Map Collection - a collection of rare maps and other printed two-dimensional graphic materials. The Washingtoniana map collection includes over 360 maps and other graphic materials documenting Washington, D.C. and the surrounding areas from 1630 through 2003. The rare map collection also contains the Maps of the Holy Land collection, which includes maps of the Middle East created by such famous cartographers as Gerhard Mercator, Sebastian Münster,  Christian von Adrichem, and Jean-Baptiste Bourguignon d’Anville.

An excellent source of rare maps available in digital form on the web is the David Rumsey Historical Map collection, which contains "over 18,400 maps online. The collection focuses on rare 18th and 19th century North and South America maps and other cartographic materials. Historic maps of the World, Europe, Asia and Africa are also represented." Included are several rare maps of Washington, D.C. and the surrounding areas.

Of particular interest to scholars of the District of Columbia are a series of 35 historical maps which have been digitized and then linked to GIS data to allow researches to locate precisely where items that appear on a historical map are in relationship to landmarks in the District today. For more information, please see the Washington, D.C. GIS page on the David Rumsey Historical Map collection site.
