Periodicals can be charged out of the library for
overnight loan. All periodicals must be returned to the
Periodicals Services Desk before closing time the following day
(see Periodicals Services Desk hours)
Students and Staff 2 (non-administrative staff):
Periodicals can be charged out to be used anywhere
within the library. They cannot be taken out of the
Library. All periodicals must be returned to the
Periodicals Services Desk before closing time on the day charged.
Alumni, Consortium and Friends of the Library:
Periodicals can be used only within the secured area of
the 3rd floor.
Computers
There are workstations located near the Periodicals Services Desk. For research assistance, you may need to go to the Reference and Information Services Desk located on the first floor.
Current and bound periodicals and microforms are available
all hours that
Gelman Library is open.
Microforms Room (3rd Floor, Room 301)
There are 10 digital microform readers connected to laser
printers located in the Microforms Room. The machines are
self-service and require a GWorld card for printing. Staff are available to assist with using the machines and collections. If the Microforms Room is not staffed, ask at the Periodicals Services Desk for collections questions and at the Photocopy Center counter for equipment questions.
There is a special lens needed to view the Library of American Civilization collection. The lens may be requested at the Photocopy Center.

If you cannot find a periodical issue or volume which is listed in ALADIN ask at the Peroidicals Services Desk.
Photocopying Articles
Self-service photocopiers are available on the third floor.
Periodicals may also be copied at the Photocopy center. To request copies from the Photocopy Center compelete a Photocopy Request Form. Take the completed form and volumes to the Periodicals Services Desk. Staff will deliver your request to the Photocopy Center. Copies may be picked up at the Photocopy Center.
Self-service photocopiers require a GWorld card. Non-GWU patrons must purchase a courtesy card from one of the value transfer stations. The cost of the courtsey card is $1.00 (non-refundable).
Periodical Reserves
Periodical volumes or issues on reserve for courses are located at the Periodicals Services Desk.
The loan period is two hours and items must be returned to the Periodicals Services Desk.
Certain heavily used titles are located at the Periodicals Services Desk for security purposes. The loan period is two hours and items must be returned to the Periodicals Services Desk.
Value Transfer Stations
To pay for self service copying you will either need to add money to your GWorld card or if you do not have a card you will need to purchase a courtesy card at these stations.
