Locate a Database

Use it for:Finding good articles, dissertations, papers through more than 200 databases the library subscribes to.

Why use it?Because these sources are not available for free on the Web, but they are free to you as a GW student, faculty or staff.


      Print It!

Step 1
From the Gelman homepage click on the ALADIN Research Portal link. If you are off-campus, you’ll need to login. See Do It Yourself@Gelman/Logging In for instructions.

Step 2
If you are just beginning your research, click on either Academic Search Premier or Proquest Research Library Plus for a few good articles.

Step 3
If you need subject-specific research, click on "Databases by Subject." If you already know which database you need, click on "Databases by Title" to search it alphabetically or to type the name.

Step 4
Scroll to Browse Databases by Subject and find a category relevant to your topic. Click on the link to get a list of databases targeted to your topic.

Step 5
Click on Istatement the to find out if a database has what you’re looking for. Read a brief summary of the content of the database, its coverage, and search tips.

Step 6
Click on the name of a database to access it. Search for your topic. If you don't see a link to the full text of the article, click here for help finding it.

Can’t find your topic?

If your topic is somewhat obscure or interdisciplinary, search Google Scholar to identify a few articles to begin with and which journals seem to write on your topic. Set your preferences in Google Scholar so that you can get any full text available at Gelman.
