Viewing a list of your checked out items

Under the "WRLC Libraries Activity" bar, click the "View" button to the right of the school whose items you wish to view. If you want to view books specifically from George Mason or Georgetown University, click the "View" button to the right of those headings.

To Renew Books Online from Your Patron Record:

  1. Under the "WRLC Libraries Activity" bar, click the "View" button to the right of the school whose items you wish to renew (usually the first heading, which is for GW and many other schools' items). If you want to renew books specifically from George Mason or Georgetown University, click the "View" button to the right of those headings.
  2. Scroll down to the "Charged Items" section to see a list of all materials you have checked out. Click in the "Renew Online" box to the right.
  3. On the resulting page, scroll down again to the "Charged Items" section and click in the check boxes to the left of the titles you wish to renew. When you've checked all the items you want to renew, click on the "Renew Items" button at the bottom of the list.
  4. A new column, "Renewal Status", will appear indicating that the item has been renewed and providing the new due date. Important Note: Verify that each item has been assigned a new due date.
  5. If your items do not renew and the due date does not change, you may have reached the renewal limit on the item or you may have another issue with your library account that needs to be addressed. Please contact the Gelman Circulation Desk at (202) 994-6840. Remember, it is your responsibility to make any inquiry before the due date to ensure that you will not be assessed late fees on these items.

Renewal Policies

Library materials may be renewed online in accordance with renewal policies of the WRLC. Gelman Library borrowers may renew their books remotely if:

  • The books have not been recalled or placed on hold by another patron
  • Their record is clear of blocks or fines of $25 or more
  • The books have not been renewed online MORE THAN Three (3) times

Three online renewals are permitted for all books within the WRLC consortium, including Gelman items. You must return or renew items at the Circulation Desk once the online renewal limit is reached. Most materials obtained through Interlibrary Loan (from libraries outside of the WRLC consortium) may be renewed one (1) time online via myALADIN for two weeks - these items will be specifically designated as Interlibrary Loan materials on your myALADIN account.

GUIDE TO PATRON INFORMATION

PATRON INFORMATION & E-MAIL REGISTRATION

This section shows the date your account is valid until and the email address used to send automated notices regarding your library accounts, status of Consortium Loan Service (CLS) requests, and articles delivered by CLS. Click on the “Edit” button to update your preferred email address. You may also disable web delivery of CLS articles only in the editing section.

CHARGED ITEMS

The Charged Items screen lists all library materials checked out to you, including Consortium items, except for George Mason University, Georgetown University, and Trinity University. The due dates and status (e.g. renewed) of each item are indicated accordingly. To view items borrowed specifically from George Mason University, Georgetown University, or Trinity University, click on the “View” button under the "WRLC Libraries Activity" bar for the corresponding school.

This screen also shows your name, address, and phone number as they appear in your library record. Please report any discrepancies or changes to the Circulation Desk and to the University immediately. GW faculty, staff, and students can submit changes to their personal information on the Internet using MyGW, at http://my.gwu.edu/ -- click on “gweb info system”, then click on “Personal Information Menu”. GW Faculty and Staff also can e-mail corrections to records@gwu.edu.

FINES AND FEES

This is a summary of outstanding fines owed to Gelman Library and other Consortium libraries, except for George Mason University, Georgetown University, and Trinity University. To view fines and fees assessed to you by those universities, click on the “View” button under the "WRLC Libraries Activity" bar for the corresponding school.

HOLDS & RECALLS

Hold & Recalls refers only to holds and recalls that you have placed on library materials, but does not tell you if another borrower has placed a hold or recall on any of the books checked out to you.
Information on items requested through the Consortium Loan Service (CLS) or Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is not included in the Hold Information summaries. Information on CLS requests can be found by clicking the View button in the Consortium Loan Services Activity section.
Pending status indicates the items, checked out to other patrons, on which you have placed holds or recalls.
Available status indicates which items are waiting for you at the Circulation Desk.
