Map-Related Web Sites
- This site, maintained by the Perry-Castaņeda Library Map Collection at the University of Texas at Austin, includes links to city, state, and country map sites.
Map Sites
- Map Machine
- Produced by National Geographic, this site provides interactive views of political, physical, and satellite image maps worldwide. On-screen controls make it easy to zoom in and out, and printable versions are provided. The site also has a place name search to quickly locate a city, country, river, etc.
- National Geographic Xpeditions
- Over 600 political maps optimized for printing and photocopying.
Street Maps
- MapQuest
- MAPQUEST provides detailed street maps (with zoom in/out capability) of a specific address. The site also includes TripQuest, which provides city-to-city driving instructions and maps. Finally, Travel Plan USA provides lists hotels, restaurants, and other information for specific locations (from the Mobil Travel Guide).

- Provides detailed street maps for a specific address, as well as a route planner.
Route Planners
- AutoPilot
- For long distance automobile trips, AUTOPILOT provides up to three routes, letting you choose, for example, whether to use interstates or scenic routes. Intermediate mileages and driving times are provided. You can also find the locations of the chain hotels and restaurants that sponsor this site, as well as points of interest along the route. Directions indicate road types (for example, interstates or U.S. highways), but not the street names of numbered highways in cities. A map of the route is not provided. Local routing is limited to airports, train stations, sponsoring hotels, etc.
