E-Reserves and BlackboardElectronic Reserves (e-reserves) is a feature of GW's Blackboard course software system. It makes full-text images of journal articles and book chapters accessible to students through GW's Blackboard systems. You can access E-Reserves through these two online courseware systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any computer with online capability. Access to these materials is limited to students in the class and require that you log in with the Course ID and Password provided to you by your instructor. Visit the Blackboard homepage to login. Viewing and Printing Materials on Blackboard When viewing or printing material from Blackboard, it’s best to right click on the link and open the document in a new window. If you need to print, do so from the new window. Material on Blackboard is sometimes formatted to be viewed using a specific application, such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft Word. In order to view files formatted for these applications, that application (or a viewer version or it) must be loaded on the computer you are using. The computers on the first floor of Gelman Library have only viewer applications loaded. If you are unable to view or print a file on these computers, try the computers in any of the 24-hour labs on campus. Such a lab is located on the lower level in Gelman Library. These computers have the full versions of applications software. If you still have problems, contact the GW Help Desk at (202) 994-5530.
