About The Library > Entrance > Visiting Scholars and Researchers
Visiting Scholars and ResearchersRequests for visiting scholars and researchers to use the library are handled by the Library Access Office in the Circulation Department. Visiting scholars and researchers must be sponsored by GW faculty or administrators; corresponding fees should be paid directly by the academic department or chartered institute. The sponsoring entity is also responsible for paying any library fees or fines incurred by sponsored scholars and researchers. The fee schedule for these individuals is as follows: Reader's CardThis card provides access to the Gelman Library general collections, but no borrowing privileges. Individuals with Reader's Cards are not eligible for certain library services such as tracing missing books, borrowing on interlibrary loan, retrieving books from storage or processing, or using electronic information resources to which access is limited by licensing agreements to members of The George Washington University Community.
Borrower's CardThis card provides both access and borrowing privileges for a non-refundable fee. Individuals with borrower's Cards are not eligible for certain library services such as borrowing reserve materials, interlibrary loan or using electronic information resources to which access is limited by licensing agreements to members of The George Washington University Community.
To enter the library, visiting scholars and researchers with a Reader's Card, Borrower's Card, or library-issued pink card, must present their card, a photo ID, and sign in at the Access Desk.
