INFORMATION

Job Summary: The Library Specialist in Monographs Acquisitions is a member of a dynamically evolving Digital and Technology Services Department and reports to the Manager of Monographs Acquisitions. This department is responsible for the acquisition and management of print and electronic monographs, including non-book formats (videos, DVDs, etc.) and those standing and/or blanket orders that are cataloged separately. Minimum Qualifications: A High School diploma and three years of appropriate experience.

Desired Qualifications: Two years of progressively responsible experience in a library or information systems environment. Working knowledge of the English language (working knowledge of other languages is a plus). Familiarity with the use of computers (experience with a library ILS, and/or experience searching a major bibliographic database is a plus). Good attention to detail.

Working Conditions: The incumbent generally performs job duties in a normal business office environment. This involves working while sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. The job also includes significant event planning and execution, which requires a significant level of physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasionally lifting office supply items that may weigh between 25 and 50 pounds. Additionally, the incumbent may be required to attend meetings in other offices, or deliver and/or retrieve information from other offices around campus. May lift and carry books, push or pull book carts, and may be required to climb ladders to reach high stacks.

Searchs and orders monographs from the library's primary vendors as well as from a multitude of secondary vendors (English language materials as well as non-English); receives monographs in Gelman's integrated library system; distributes newly received monographs to other units or departments. Prepares both electronic and paper invoices for payment; identifies and resolves problems with orders and with book shipments; claims overdue titles in a timely manner. Essential 15
