- Location: REF HM 425 .J64 2000
- Definitions of common sociological terms and concepts, with bibliographic references to further reading on selected topics. Includes index and cross-references to entries.
- Contemporary Social and Sociological Theory.
- Location: REF HM 585 .A52 2006
- Covers 20 major contemporary theorists. Divided into four major areas of sociological theory: the social situation and its people, social structures and systems, modernity and postmodernity, and identity politics.
- Encyclopedia of Sociology.
- Location: REF HM 425 .E5 2000 vols. 1-4
- The most comprehensive encyclopedia of sociology available, with lengthy topical sections and extensive references.
- Sage Handbook of Sociology.
- Location: REF HM 586 .S24 2005
- Overviews of sociological method and theory, more than twenty sociological sub-fields, and many of the current debates in the field.

- Sociological Abstracts 1952 - present.
- Location: ALADIN Research Portal
- The main tool for identifying the international literature in theoretical and applied sociology, social science, and policy science. The database draws information from an international selection of over 1,800 journals and other serial publications, plus conference papers, books, and dissertations. Records added after 1963 contain in-depth and non-evaluative abstracts.
- Social Services Abstracts 1979 - present
- Location: ALADIN Research Portal
- current research focused on social work, human services, and related areas, including social welfare, social policy, and community development. The database abstracts and indexes over 1,300 serial publications.
- Annual Review of Sociology. 1975 - present
- Location: ALADIN Research Portal
- Provides reviews of research in specialized areas of sociology. Each essay summarizes and discusses the most influential research and literature. Includes extensive reference lists.
- National Criminal Justice Reference Service Abstracts Database
- Location: ALADIN Research Portal
- Indexes criminal justice reports, articles, and audiovisual products from the United States and around the world. Includes statistics, research findings, program descriptions, congressional hearing transcripts, and training materials.
- Polling the Nations 1986 - present
- Location: ALADIN Research Portal
- Data from public opinion polls and surveys conducted in the US and abroad.
- Ethnic NewsWatch 1990 - present
- Location: ALADIN Research Portal
- Full text of U.S. newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press. Searchable in both English and Spanish.
- Gender Studies 1972 - present

- Gender-related scholarship inside and outside academia, combining Women's Studies International, Men's Studies and Sexual Diversity Studies and relevant contributions from the Child Development and Adolescent Studies and Family and Society Studies Worldwide databases.
- Contemporary Women's Issues 1992 - present

- Full-text coverage of U.S. and international sources for research on global issues concerning women. Includes mainstream periodicals, grey literature, and the alternative press.
- GLBT Life

- Indexing and abstracts for more than 120 Gay, Lesbian, Bixexual and Transgender-specific core periodicals and over 230 GLBT-specific core books and reference works, as well as full text for 50 of the most important and historically significant GLBT journals, magazines and regional newspapers and dozens of full text monographs.
- PAIS International. 1972- Updated monthly.

- Bibliographic index covering the full range of political, social, and public policy issues. Topics covered include economic, political, and social issues, business, finance, law, international trade and relations, public administration, government, political science, and any topics that are or might become the subject of legislation.
- PsycINFO 1806 - present.

- Provides indexing and abstracting of the psychological literature including psychological journal articles, dissertations, technical reports, books, and chapters within books. Provides the most comprehensive coverage of all areas of psychology, both experimental and applied.
- Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Science) 1956 - present.

- The Social Sciences Citation Index is a multidisciplinary index to the journal literature of the social sciences. It fully indexes more than 1,725 journals across 50 social sciences disciplines, and it indexes individually selected, relevant items from over 3,300 of the world's leading scientific and technical journals.
NOTE: Check the ALADIN Library Catalog on ALADIN to find out if Gelman Library owns a particular journal title in print, and in the WRLC e-Journal Finder for electronic access options. It tells exactly what our holdings are, where where they are located, and in what format(s). The Catalog also tells which other WRLC libraries own a periodical that Gelman Library does not own. If you cannot find the journal in ALADIN, please consult with a reference librarian.
