A good starting place. Provides indexing and abstracting of over 3,000 business and management journals, magazines, and newspapers. Full text and images are provided for many titles, including Compensation & Benefits Management, Compensation and Benefits Review, HR Focus, Personnel Psychology, Public Personnel Management, T+D, Training, and Review of Public Personnel Administration.

Business Source Premier
Location: ALADIN
Date coverage: Most back to 1965 or first issue of journal. Some key journals are covered as far back as 1922.
Another starting place for business research, this database covers all fields of business including including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics. Full text and images provided for many titles, including Harvard Business Review.

Dissertation Abstracts International
Location: ALADIN
Date coverage: Citations 1861-present; Abstracts 1980-present. Titles published since 1999 are available in PDF and have 24-page previews available.
Contains information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses from over 1,000 North American graduate schools and European universities. For more information about searching this database and obtaining copies of dissertations, go to the Gelman Research Guide on Dissertations.

Emerald Library

Date coverage: 1989-present
Full-text articles from over 130 management journals.

ERIC
Location: ALADIN. Free version also available at http://www.eric.ed.gov/
Date coverage: 1966-present
Indexes and abstracts articles and other publications in the field of education. Includes full-text ERIC Digests as well as many other ERIC Documents from 1996 to the present (the entire ERIC document collection is also available on microfiche on the third floor of Gelman Library . ERIC covers more journals than the database Education Abstracts, but coverage is selective--i.e., at times not every article in a journal is indexed.

Date coverage: 1985-present (date coverage varies by title)
Successor product to Dow Jones Interactive and Reuters' Business Briefing. Provides the full text of over 9, 000 magazines, journals, and newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal. Current global business information by company, industry, region and subject category.

Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe
Location: ALADIN
Date coverage: Varies by publication
Select "News" in top menu bar and then "Business News Publications" in the pull down menu to search the full-text of business periodicals. Alternatively, choose "General " to access the full-text of hundreds of newspapers and other publications from around the world. Online access to newspapers is generally available within 24 hours of publication.

PsycINFO
Location: ALADIN
Date coverage: 1806-present
Abstract database that covers over 1300 journals in psychology and related disciplines. Also includes citations for books, book chapters, and dissertations. This is an excellent tool for locating empirical research related to behavior.

Sociological Abstracts
Location: ALADIN
Date coverage: 1952-present, updated monthly
Abstracts and indexes over 1,700 serials publications, books, book chapters, dissertations, and conference papers. Records added after 1974 contain in-depth and nonevaluative abstracts of journal articles. Many records from key journals in sociology, added to the database since 2002, also include the references cited in the bibliography of the source article.

Citation Styles

Consult with your instructor to determine the appropriate citation style to use for this course. Some of the major citation styles are Turabian, APA, and MLA. The Gelman Style Manuals Web page (http://www.gwu.edu/gelman/ref/readyref/style.html) provides links to several online style manuals. In addition, you will find style manuals in the reference sections of most academic libraries.
