This eight volume set provides extensive information on education from pre-school to higher education with an emphasis on the U.S. Article entries include bibliographical references and an index.

Encyclopedia of School Psychology

Comprehensive guide to the field of school psychology featuring the latest research on school learning, motivation, and educational assessment. This three volume set provides in-depth articles on special education. Topics include clinical disorders and syndromes, testing, intervention techniques, education methods, legal considerations, and biographies of prominent practitioners and theorists.

Finding Articles

To access databases with a location of "ALADIN", click on the title of the database. To see a list of databases available through ALADIN, go to the ALADIN Home Page. Under "Databases by Title" on the right side of the screen, choose from the three alphabetical groupings. ALADIN databases are available for use only by current GW students, staff, and faculty. If you are using this page from off-campus, you will be prompted to enter the barcode number from the back of your GWorld ID card before you can access the database.

 

ERIC (Education) 1966 - present.
Location: ALADIN, also on the Internet @ http://www.eric.ed.gov/
ERIC provides articles from education journals and other publications from the field including research documents, conference papers, technical reports, classroom guides, and curricular materials. The Aladin version is a subscription database that links to materials housed in other Aladin databases. The entire ERIC document collection is available on microfiche on the third floor of Gelman Library.

Education Abstracts 1983 - present.
Provides indexing and abstracting of articles from education journals and yearbooks. Topics include a wide range of contemporary education issues.

ProQuest Research Library Plus
Location: ALADIN
Provides indexing, abstracting and some full text of articles from 760 academic journals and other periodicals related to education.

Dissertation Abstracts International
Location: ALADIN
Provides indexing (1861-present), abstracting (1980-1999), and full text (1999-present) of doctoral dissertations and master's
theses. Information on locating the full text of dissertations published before 1999 is available here.

Lexis/Nexis Academic Universe
Location: ALADIN
Provides full text access to legal news, including the texts of federal and state educational laws.

Policy File
Location: ALADIN
Indexes public policy research and analysis from think tanks, university research programs, and research organizations. Provides abstracts, organizational web address, and the URL to the full-text of the document (if availabe). Updated weekly.

JSTOR
Location: ALADIN
Provides full text access to the archival volumes of 50 educational journals.
